Quiet luxury is a fashion aesthetic defined by understated quality: expensive materials, precise tailoring, and deliberately minimal branding — communicating wealth through craft and restraint rather than logos or conspicuous design.
Origin & context
The term gained wide circulation in 2023 following the influence of the television series Succession, whose costume design by Michelle Matland became a reference for the look. The aesthetic itself is older — it describes the private-school, old-money wardrobe of cashmere, linen, and neutral tones that has existed in American and European dressing for decades under names like "stealth wealth" or "old money style."

Quiet luxury is one of the clearest examples of a coherent taste cluster: items that belong to it share consistent visual properties (neutral palette, fine materials, minimal surface detail) that a fashion embedding model can reliably group together.
